FINANCIAL ADVICE
Information for education institutions
Education is at the centre of the Financial Advisers Act.
With many financial advisers requiring training in some form, the introduction of the Act offers opportunities for training providers. To understand the training needs review Information for financial advisers and FAQs.
The Act introduces objective, measurable standards of education and competence across the financial adviser sector. Thousands of advisers across New Zealand will be required to take training in some form, including continuing professional training to keep them up to date.
A Commission staff consultation paper seeking comment on the possible use of qualifications standards already established by the financial industry's training organisation, ETITO was published on 20 April 2009. Submissions to this paper closed on 29 May 2009. Use of these standards would allow any accredited education provider to competitively provide training for financial advisers.
