Regulation of credit rating agencies and financial analysts - issues for the IOSCO Annual Conference - April 2005

The programme for the 2005 annual conference of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has been released.

Issues of particular importance to be discussed by securities regulators from around the world are:

  • Regulation of credit rating agencies;
  • Regulation of financial analysts,
  • Hedge funds; and
  • Issues for emerging economies.

These sessions, on the 6th and 7th of April, are public panel discussions open to any interested people who register to attend.

IOSCO has some 180 member agencies from more than 100 countries.

It is the primary world forum for international cooperation for securities regulators and is recognised as the international standard setter for securities markets.

The New Zealand Securities Commission is a long time member of IOSCO and is a signatory to the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation and sharing of information. Chairman Jane Diplock is currently also Chairman of IOSCO's Executive Committee.
